Democracy Day

01/20/2017 - 00:00

Readings from The Bill of Rights, The Constitution, Thoreau's Civil Disobedience, Ghandi and many more. Please bring a reading to share. From Peggy Fry: "An event where anyone could participate by sharing a poem, a song, a piece of art, an essay or anything else related to their feelings and thoughts on how we continue to fight for our democracy. For instance, if I participated, I would recite Langston Hughes' "America" poem and maybe play my guitar and sing CSNY's "Find the Cost of "Freedom"...I just thought this might be a positive way to bring people together to celebrate our commitment to our democracy despite the danger the next administration could hold for it."

People are invited to bring a baked good or covered dish - OBOFS will provide coffee.

Many thanks to Peggy for making it happen.

Begins at noon - runs 'till we are finished.

Voter Registration forms will be available if you need to register as will postcards to send to your legislature.
